Another 3D piece, however this time is a 3D object in a live action scene. I textured the models with pain-in-the-@$$ SubSurface Scattering, created the eyes, and the orchid model was purchased at TurboSquid. I also lit the object with the appropriate light to match the scene and finally composited into the shot. I've never worked on compositing before so this was a lot of fun and I learned A LOT!!

This shot was for the movie "The Gift" which will not be released any time soon. :(

Let me know what you think! Enjoy!

You did great for your first stab at it, I looked at it and thought... "gee these look like my grandma's orchids" then I saw the eye and thought "gee this would be a good joke to pull on my grandma's orchids".

If I was to change one thing though it would be to make the leaves a bit more translucent.

I didn't notice the eyes at first, I think because they're so close in color to the petals. I like that, simply because it's a more subtle shock.

This looks like it was immensely difficult!

Oooh, kickass! I both want those flowers and don't want them, cause they would be dead cool, but the feeling of someone staring at me would haunt me forever >_>

Eevilprawns full name is actually The Electroencephalographically-Challenged Ferret, but that didn't fit in the box

lol! yeah, i wouldn't want eyes to be staring at me. the plant is animated, so it follows movement. those eyes would be staring at every move you make! yikes!
thank you! i'm glad you like it!

thank you for your suggestion. Making the leaves more translucent would probably help make it look more realistic. heheheh! your grandma would probably freak if there were eyes in her orchid!

No problem, it's a really unique piece and it shows your dedication off wonderfully. :) My only suggestion would be more of a hue difference between the eyes and the petals since they're a similar shade of off-white.
